Juno retired from research in 2010 and was adopted by our founder, Kate who says it was love at first sight. Juno took to her new life very quickly. In 2011 Juno became a certified therapy dog and went on to share her love with those in her community and accompanied Kate on many BeFreegle adventures. When not being a therapy dog or ambassador for other laboratory dogs, Juno loved to dig rather large holes in the garden and chase the resident groundhog. Juno left this earth on August 20, 2022 due to her advanced age and failing health. Her legacy lives on with every research dog who finds their way to BeFreegle.

Our dogs all come from biomedical research facilities and have no real world experience. By applying you understand that while adopting one of our dogs is a privilege it is also a lot of work. Before you apply be sure that everyone in your household is on board for training, accidents in the house, and lots of time standing still while you wait for them to decide to walk on leash. Two weeks is the minimum amount of time it takes for any dog to begin to settle into their new home. If you do not have the time or patience that these dogs require a Freegle is not for you. Please consider that before applying.

To be considered to adopt a Freegle please fill out the online application here for any of our available Freegles. Our adoption fee is $400, unless otherwise noted.

You must fill out an adoption application and be approved prior to a meet and greet. We do our best to match Freegle with person / family who will best meet our dogs needs. Applicants can expect a week or more wait while we go through the applications and evaluate the needs of each Freegle. We appreciate your patience.

Ophelia – Born in December 2025 sweet little Ophelia is hoping for a forever home soon. Our girl is outgoing and very brave while navigating her new life. She loves other dogs and needs a home with another playful pup. She initiates play with her foster beagle friends. Ophelia is working on her housetraining and loves going for walks and exploring. A fenced yard is preferable as well as a family who loves to walk. Ophelia, who loves kids, is looking mostly for someone who will let her sleep on their lap. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. 

 

Pugsley – Born in May 2024 sweet and serious Pugsley is awaiting his forever home. He is a boy who knows what he wants (and doesn’t). Pugsley is not fond of his crate or xpen for FOMO. While he’s still housetraining, which is going well, the crate is a must. He definitely is not an apartment beagle as he will tell you exactly how he feels about previously mentioned crate. Pugsley is wicked smart and does love a good cuddle with his furry foster sister so another dog is a must. Pugsley is neutered, microchipped, and up to date in his vaccinations. 

 

 

Morticia (Adoption pending) – Born in December 2022 Morticia (Tish to her friends) is a huge sweetheart and social butterfly. She loves walking on leash and insists on meeting everyone she sees. Morticia is working hard on her housetraining and is nearly there. She loves other dogs and would love a fenced yard to run and play with all her friends. Morticia is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. 

 

 

Hopper – Born in December 2025 Hopper is a whole lot of beagle packed into one adorable package! He’s fearless, enthusiastic, and sometimes (ok often) a little too much of a good thing. He is still working on his manners and learning how to manage all that excitement packed into his 16 lb self. Being left home alone has been a work in progress (let’s just say his crate doesn’t always stay clean!). Hopper will need a patient, experienced adopter who understands that progress takes time, consistency, and a good sense of humor. He’s not going to be the right fit for everyone, but the right person will find a very special companion in this entertaining little monster. Hopper is neutered, microchipped, and up to date in his vaccinations.
